Global Street Style

Hola

I'm still working on the computer situation at home. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. So, I've always been curious to know what inspired some of the fashioin trends overseas. There is a dance revolution happening in Spain now. Dance is popular in America too, with moves like, 'The Snap Dance' or 'Poole Palace' in Atlanta, GA, and Krumping and Hyphy in California. Street dancing is so popular in Spain, that they've incorportated it into their fashion. Almost all forms of dance are formed into their style. Ballet and modern dance are huge influences in clothes. We'll have to wait and see if those styles float over here.

Product of the Week:

Ok everybody. This is a classic. At least in my family. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is a necessity in my beauty regimine. It's main purpose is to protect against diaper rash for babies, I've used it for almost everything. It's perfect for dry skin, a lip balm, soothe burns, and I've even used it in my hair (don't recommend for hair). Anyways, I think it even keeps me a little warmer in the winter! It's very thick and a little greasy so I only use it in winter under layered clothes. Peace Out!

One Piece Something?

Hey All!

My computers are still down. I'm very upset with this problem. Sorry for the scattered posts everybody. Moving on to the trends.

I don't know what this is called. It reminds me of something I wore in first grade in the way early 90's. Is it a one- piece shorts set? I have no idea. But Jessica Simpson loves them. We're gonna look back and laugh at this one. Let me know what's up people.

Product of the Week:

The product of the week is something I use everyday. Dove Beauty Bar is the best. It's really good for sensitive skin too. It's extremely moisturizing and smells so good and clean. It's true what the advertisement says: 'Dove doesn't dry your skin like soap.' There's different bars. They all work brilliantly. Try Dove Beauty Bar for Sensitive Skin, *Dove White Beauty Bar*, *Exfoliating Bar*, or Dove Nutrium.

Rolled Up Shorts

Hey!

We've all seen the trouser shorts this summer. Especially on Jennifer Aniston. But the designers are always trying to modify a trend. Rolled up shorts are a fad of the moment. They probably came up with this one to help us cool off from this most annoying heat wave ever. Trouser shorts are made to b a little casual and a little formal. They could be worn just hanging out or worn to work. Rolled up shorts are not for the office. They are very casual.

Colorful Sneakers

Hey!

As part of the summer casual trend, colorful sneakers have been walking the sidewalks. They are sporty and very comfortable looking. I like them, but because I live on a budget, I go more for classic styles that can be worn with multiple outfits. Lots of high-fashion designers added sneakers to their collections a few years ago. I've seen colorful sneakers for a long time now, but it's the bright and pastel colors are the summer sneaker trend. Stay Fly!

Long Summer Dresses

Hey Ya'll!

We are still in the casual phase of fashion trends. This is a great thing because of this heat wave going on. I'm taking it hard. Loose, lightweight, long dresses are perfect for the hot evenings. They are comfortable and flowy. Some of them are a little 'bohemianesque,' but still cute. I really like Beyonce's casual summer fashions. Peace Out!

More Denim Trends

¡Hola!

The fashion stylists are always trying to find something new to do with denim. Embellishments, rips, or different washes. Make 'em skinny or wide. Wide pockets, cropped, shorts, cuffed, jackets, everything! The newest denim trend is ripped denim. I don't really know what to call it, but the hem is unfinished or released on denim pieces like mini skirts, shorts, and jackets. It won't last forever because we are in a very casual clothing phase. As soon al the trends go back to classic and elegant, we'll probably look down on this trend in disgust.

Product of the Week:

I know that this is so random, but I am a beauty product junkie (I'm also a food junkie, but we'll discuss that much later). I'm starting a new section that will talk about my favorite products once a week.

The beauty product of the week that I'm loving right now is Johnson's Softcream: Extra Care Body Cream. I have never used anything like it. On Johnson's site it claims: 'Within one week of continued use, it can help skin retain significantly more moisture to actually improve the condition of your skin.' We've all heard this before with other creams and lotions, but it is absolutely true. It lasts 24 hours and comes in a hand cream too. Wonderful!

Plaid: Modernized Grunge?

Happy Birthday Mom!

Hey Everyone!

For some reason, I've always associated plaid with bad fashion. Many years ago, I remember plaid being used in big flannel shirts tied around the waist and looking terrible. Which was part of the 1990's Grunge style. For awhile now, I've seen a lot of cute plaid fashions. My favorite for summer is Madras. It's light weight cotton in bright colors woven into plaid design. Plaid is supposed to be one of the hottest trends for Fall. I'm happy about that and I won't be ashamed to wear plaid this season!

The Empire Waist Is Still Here

Hey!

The empire waist is still here! I think and hope that it will stay for many more seasons to come. I don't care what anyone says, it is so flattering for my body shape, which is in between hour glass and pear. (If that makes any sense). It's so comfortable to wear too. Doesn't Ashanti look comfy? I can eat a big meal and don't have to hold in my stomach, and it's still flattering. It can also be a few trends in one. The empire waist and bold prints, tiers, or stripes. Peace.

Forehead headband

¡Hola!

We're slowly moving away from the 1980's (thank goodness) and we're going back to the 1950's and 1960's. But, some 80's trends are still to come like oversized clothes and men's pieces cut to fit women. I'm a little worried about 60's fashions because the designers aren't going for classic or elegant 60's fashion, they are going with the hippie look. I don't think the forehead headband is a good look, but it's here and I hope it's not a lasting trend. I understand that it's a dressed down look, but it's not flattering to the face or hair. Oh, well. Tell me what you think.

Jungle Fever Part III

Leopard Print Satchel by Valentino
• Golden hardware and studs.
• Top handles with rings.
• Extended buckle flap with logo closure on front.
• Satin lining.
• Interior pocket.
• Made in Italy.

Hey Everybody!

I've never bought anything with animal print and I've never had an interest in it before. Until now. The safari trend was popular this past spring, but now I guess the safari trip is over and now they're bringing home souvenirs. Animal prints are a huge trend for the summer and they will be for fall too. (Especially leopard print). I've seen the cutest bags, dresses, shoes, and belts. The fashion marketers are really doing their job because they have convinced me to add some african animal to my wardrobe.

Throw Them All Together

¿Comó Están?

A huge spring trend was bold prints. Florals, stripes, and polka dots are very popular and trendy styles. So guess what it's time to do now? Mix them! Asymetrical shapes mixed with stripes! That sounds so cool! (sarcastic) The 'garden in fashion' look is a good one when it comes to mixing prints, but everything else would like a mess. To keep it very safe, I would choose to mix different floral prints. If you know how this look can be pulled off, send your pics here!

Heart Accents

Hey Ya'll!

It's been a long time, but I'm getting settled in a new city. My husband starts law school in a few weeks and we're excited. So anyways, I've been peepin' out some trends and I'm finding a lot of heart jewelry around. I would put this in a subcategory under Charm Jewelry because they can be small enough to be a trinket. The heart charm bracelet above is from Hilary Duff's 'Stuff' line. It's a line of miscellaneous items like clocks, watches, and jewelry boxes.

The heart accent trend looks simple and goes with everything. Show off that heart necklace with your hair pulled back into the trendy wispy bun. Check out cosmogirl.com on how to achieve this style.
